Eyes on Jesus: He knew Human Woe

He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God (John 10-13).

Why would a King leave His heavenly throne to come to a place drowning in sin?

Why would God become a lowly human embarking on a life among those who did not, would not believe in Him?

Why would God made Man, renounce His heavenly abilities, live more than 30 years among ridiculers and scoffers, befriend betrayers, choose to be tortured while remaining silent, and die so that those same people could live?

He did this for love — His undying, incomprehensible, mystifying love for us.

For us baptized, for us He bore

His holy fast and hungered sore;

For us temptation sharp He knew;

For us the tempter overthrew.

Dear Reader,

Embrace His love for you and hold it to your heart as you continue your personal journey through Lent.

Remind yourself of His presence in your life as you recognize the precious gift of grace He bestows upon you.

Stand firm upon His promises — promises made firm and true with the precious blood of Jesus Christ — as you kneel before His throne.

Remember — He did all this for you!

Dear Father in Heaven,

Thank you for the gift of Life given to us through the work of Your Son, our Living Savior, Jesus Christ. Allow our hearts to be open to Your will, let our ears hear Your voice, open our eyes to the opportunities to share Your love with others, and give us the courage to do Your will. Amen
