Polar Plunge for MITES

To say I was overwhelmed by the support received for the

would be an understatement. My most sincere and humble thanks go out to

all of YOU who invited me to your churches, who spread the news on your

own, and all of those who gave so generously toward the goal of $5,900 in

59 days!

If you do not already know, or have not yet heard, over $12,800 was raised

during the 59 days of the Polar Plunge Challenge! I’m not sure if I have

generous friends or unknown enemies, but many people made sure I

braved the icy waters off the south shore of Long Island in support of our

2018-2020 Mission Goal.

While this turned out to be a great response to an even greater need,

please know we STILL HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO in order to meet

our $77,000 Mission Goal by March 31, 2020! We still need about $20,000

to fully satisfy all the worthy mission projects we adopted back in April

2018.

A great way to make sure this happens is for YOU to get involved in AD

LWML!

If you have a desire to serve or be a part of AD LWML, PLEASE let your

voice be heard! There are many upcoming events where your God-given

gifts are needed and can be used in the service of Jesus Christ.

Be a part of our first-ever Mission Walk/Servant Event happening June 5,

2020, at Village Lutheran Church, Bronxville, New York. Help us begin our

efforts to reach AD LWML’s 2020-2022 Mission Goal while having an

enjoyable walk with friends. After you’ve completed your stroll, gather

together at the church and help us assemble school supply kits that will

support The New LIFE School and Children’s Services (Family LIFE).

Make sure to register for “Life in the SON,” AD LWML’s 2020 Convention.

This one-day convention will be held at Concordia College, Bronxville, New

York. In addition to the adoption of our 2020-2022 mission grants, we will

be hearing from our keynote speaker, Rev. Dr. Dien Ashley Taylor,

Missionary Alexandria Rappe speaking about her mission work in Thailand,

LWML Jr. Pastoral Counselor Pastor Brian Noack will bring greetings and

news from National LWML, Gifts of Love Representative Rebecca Bessell

will give us information about gift planning and endowments, Bishop Derek

Lecakes will bring greetings from AD LCMS, and more! Come, see, and

hear of all the wonderful things LWML has done and will be doing in the

future!

We are also in the beginning stages of planning an event for women—

young and old—to meet, discuss, and share future ideas for mission

service and ministry. This exciting event will be taking place on the

beautifully manicured grounds of Mill Neck Manor in Glen Cove.

Make sure to visit our website, ADLWML.ORG, for specific dates and

details on all these events and more.

May God continue to bless the work of hands in service to our Risen Lord

and Savior, Jesus Christ!
